Today's Topic: Top Ten Characters I Did Not Click With

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a fantastic day! Today's topic is ten characters I did not click with. A lot of the characters on my list are very popular characters. Some of these books I enjoyed despite not clicking with the characters. But, sometimes it killed the book for me.

Let's get started!!

Please don't throw anything at your computer screen! I know! She is a very beloved character. Her story was very heartfelt and I felt empathic towards her situation. But at times her personality was so unpleasant and I had a hard time liking her character. I love Park so much and sometimes she was just so rude to him. I still really enjoyed this book and the overall story. Rainbow Rowell is one of my favs!

I had a very hard time connecting with Quentin in this story. I loved the idea. I just did not find him very intriguing. I also found myself very disconnected to Margo. I don't think there was enough character development to really get invested into their story. I really liked the overall book and I loved some of Quentin's friends, especially Ben.

8.  Peeta from
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I know Peeta is such a beloved character too. But I just liked Gail better. I thought Gail was a better fit for Katniss and I loved their close relationship and how they helped each other's families survive. Peeta was okay, but he got in the way of what I wanted to happen in the story.

7.  Aria from
Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
Aria just did not make the cut. I loved the world and ALL the other characters in the story. She just seemed so ordinary and average. There was nothing interesting or intriguing about her. I thought all the other characters in this series were so well developed but Aria was very one-dimensional.

6. Isla from
Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
I absolutely love Stephanie Perkins. She is one of my favorite YA Romance writers. Isla was a huge disappointment for me. I found her so immature in the story and it was really annoying at times. I found her a little boring and a little obsessive at times. She just did not win my heart like Lola and Anna.

5. Lucinda from
Fallen by Lauren Kate
It has been so long since I tried reading this series and I am a little fuzzy on all the details. I only read the first two books in the series. I remember not liking Lucinda. She just was annoying and it caused me not to be motivated to continue on with this series. I think I found her character very familiar and predictable.

4. Earl from
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews
Earl is a very unique character and I think he was original and interesting. I just had a hard time relating with him. I wanted more from him and I just never was satisfied with his decisions.

3.  Ruby from
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
As I have pointed out in other TTT, I have a love/hate relationship with this series. One of the things that I do not like about it is the main character Ruby. She drives me crazy! All the other characters in this series are absolutely amazing. But, Ruby is a different story. Her decision making annoys me. I still adore this series.

2. Tally from
Uglies by Scott Westerfield
Tally did not start bugging me until the second book in the series. I found her very repetitive and I just lost interest in her story. I have yet to finish this series. I have only read the first three books.

1.  Juliette from
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
I have only read the first book in this series. I do plan to continue on with this series. I really do like the writing style and the story does interest me. I just found Juliette not intriguing and I was not blown away by the story. I know this story is so loved and I want to enjoy it too. It just has not captivated me. I heard that this series does get better so I am not giving up on it yet.

Have read any of these books? Do you love any of these characters that I did not click with? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Happy Reading!!

  3. I have Isla on my list as well :)
And have not read any of the other books you talk about here, so there is that. But at least we share the same "non-clicking" of one character.
    Great list :)

  4. Earl! Forgot him. Yeah he wasn't my cup of tea. Margo was the worst. I had no idea how much people did not like ISla until today. She was my favorite out the series :) Great list!!

  5. I completely agree with everything you've said here Theresa (except for Peeta. Peeta is amazing). I found Quentin to be so annoying as well. Like, I never understood what he saw in Margo that made him so obsessive over her, you know? And Lucinda was extremely irritating as well - I never was able to understand or sympathize for her character either. Thanks for sharing this and, as always, fabulous choices! ♥
